Description

now that the armor is put together with all the carving and trimming, it time to set, prep, and paint!! to set the foam armor in the shape i mold it to, I used plasti dip rubber spray. This stuff is great. It will keep the shape of the armor while still leave it flexible to put it on and off your body. I used about 3-4 coat of the plasti dip spray outside and inside the armor. Now it time for the prep paint step. I used mod podge glue to prep my armor for paint as well as give the armor a smoother texture. DO NOT USE WOOD GLUE!!! it dose paint smoothly on rubber and leave clumps every where. (I learned that the hard way) lucky for me I was able to get the wood glue off and replace it with the mod podge glue. I used about 3 coasts. once the glue is dry, the painting can begin!! I used your basic white and brown paint first as my pre paint. I then apply a light gray for shading between the armor trims to give the armor definition and gold shimming paint. Finish it off using gloss acrylic paint sealer to give it that shine. Now to complete my armor I need to add the straps. I used a mustard color nylon fabric to create my straps. I cut 4 long strips and then sewn 2 strip each together. I then took the straps and rotated it inside out so that the seams are inside. I then took some cotton stuffing and stuff the strips. I then stitch every 2-2 1/2 inches to create the ridges look. I it is time to paint the straps the bight gold color. I first strayed the strips with acrylic sealer so that paint will stick to the fabric. I then did three coats of gold paint on each side of the straps. Sealed the paint with two coast of acrylic sealer. once it dried I added the straps to the armor with hot glue. I then line the inside of the armor with some fabric and the complete the armor
